For Research Purposes Only

UK law guide

Are peptides legal in the UK?

Short answer: yes — research peptides can be lawfully bought and sold in the UK for laboratory research purposes. But the legal framework matters, and it's what separates reputable suppliers from the rest. Here's how UK law actually treats peptides in 2026.

The legal position, plainly

There is no UK law that prohibits owning or buying peptides. What the law regulates is how they are sold. Three frameworks matter:

1. The Human Medicines Regulations 2012. Any product sold for human use with a medicinal purpose needs an MHRA licence. Research peptides have no licence — so they can only lawfully be supplied for laboratory research, never for consumption, and never with medical claims. This is why every legitimate listing says “research use only”.

2. The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. Most research peptides — BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, KPV, retatrutide, and similar — are not controlled substances. Buying them is not an offence. (A small number of compounds, such as growth hormone itself, are Class C and are different.)

3. The Psychoactive Substances Act 2016. Doesn't apply — peptides in this category are not psychoactive.

What this means when choosing a supplier

The research-use-only framework puts the compliance burden on the seller — which is exactly where quality shows. A supplier operating properly inside the framework will label clearly, publish third-party testing of finished batches, and make certificates of analysis available. A supplier making weight-loss or healing claims is operating outside the law, and that carelessness usually extends to what's in the vial.

RegenMed supplies exclusively for laboratory research: every batch is independently tested, certificates of analysis are available on request, and everything ships tracked in temperature-controlled packaging from within the UK.
